8/27: Neighbors to Discuss 303 S 51st Street

Neighbors for Healthy Community Development (NHCD) is holding a neighborhood organizing meeting about a mixed-use project that has been permitted for a lot in the middle of the 5000 block of Pine/Spruce - 6:30-7:30 on August 27th at First Corinthian Baptist Church (51st and Pine). NHCD was formed because of neighbor concerns about the project. The permitted project is for 33 residential units with ground floor commercial space in three 3-story buildings accessed by a driveway on 51st Street, across from Malcolm X Park. Remembering a Dear Friend

The Garden Court Community Association is saddened by the loss of GCCA President Mary Allegra. Mary was a joyful, generous, tireless woman who took pride in her family, community, and the world of arts and culture. She was a gracious host and a meticulous planner. She was a proud mother, grandmother and wife as well as an inspiration to those who knew her. We will miss her leadership and treasure her legacy. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass 12:00 P.M. Saturday, Aug. 24th at St. Francis DeSales Church, 4625 Springfield Ave. where friends may call 10-11:45 A.M. at the Church.  Interment private. Click here for additional details.

September 27 Update: Ticket sales for the progressive dinner are closed Join us for the 25th anniversary of the Garden Court Community Association Progressive Dinner, an evening of food, fun and fellowship that supports music education for young people in our community. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 28th and begins at 5:30 PM. Early bird tickets (before September 21st) are $40 for members and $45 for non-members.
